What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a treatment that uses very thin steel needles inserted into the skin to stimulate specific points in the body.
Acupuncture therapy is known to release blockages in the body and stimulate function, evoking the body’s natural healing response through various physiological systems. Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine, immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems, acupuncture can help to resolve pain, improve sleep, digestive functions, and an overall general sense of well-being.
Acupuncture can improve the body’s functions and promote the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific Anatomic Sites. Commonly referred to as Acupuncture Points, or Acupoints. The most common method used to stimulate Acupoints is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin.
Our experienced acupuncturists use techniques to cause minimal if any discomfort on insertion.
We offer acupuncture for specific areas of interest such as Pain Management, Weight Loss, Internal Medicine and Infertility.

Acupuncture relieves pain by releasing endorphins, the body's natural pain-killing chemicals, and by affecting the part of the brain that governs serotonin, a brain chemical involved with mood control. The acupuncturist typically inserts 4 to 10 needles and leaves them in place for 10 to 30 minutes while you rest. A usual course of treatment includes six to 12 sessions over a three-month period.

Weight Loss
Acupuncture acts on the neuroendocrine system to activate satiety. Acupuncture increases the endorphins, dopamine and serotonin which have the effect to make you feel happy and less stress and in turn make you eat less. Acupuncture can benefit you by reducing water retention, boosting digestion and metabolism, regulating insulin and hormones. Integrated with diet and exercise, Acupuncture can be an effective natural component in weight loss.
Infertility
Acupuncture as part of the TCM as a treatment for infertility is used for a very long time. Acupuncture treatment can balance the hormones, strengthen the immune system, regulate the energy and blood flow, remove the stasis and phlegm and stimulate the nervous system. With a combination of acupuncture and herbs, it is possible to improve the ovarian and follicular function and increase the blood flow to the endometrium and improve the sperm quality. During infertility treatment both male and female partners should take the treatment at the same time to optimise sucess.
